February 17, New Delhi: Addressing the India AI Impact Summit 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted India's growing startup ecosystem, noting that the nation now has over 120 unicorns and ranks as the third largest globally.
Prime Minister Modi said that India's startup growth was accelerated with the launch of the Startup India Program. "In 2014, India had only 4 unicorns. Today, we have over 120 unicorns valued at $350 billion (approximately €300 billion). India is connected to almost every tech company in some form," he said.
