
As of the 20th of this month, summer crop sowing has covered over 42 lakh hectares across the country. The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has stated that summer sowing has seen strong growth this season, with the total area increasing by 15 lakh hectares compared to last year. Rice has been sown on 27 lakh hectares, while pulses cover 4 lakh hectares. The area sown with pulses has also increased, with 3.47 lakh hectares being sown during the same period last year.
The progress report released by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare shows that approximately 6 lakh hectares were sown with Shri Anna and Coarse Cereals. The area sown with Oilseeds crossed 4.69 lakh hectares.
