New Delhi, March 10 – Former India coach Gautam Gambhir credited Sanju Samson’s crucial 97 against the West Indies as the turning point in India’s successful campaign at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, which concluded with the hosts winning their third consecutive title after defeating New Zealand in Ahmedabad.

Gambhir emphasized the emotional significance of winning a World Cup for India, describing it as a privilege to contribute to the country once again.

“Winning a World Cup as a coach is an incredible honor. It’s a privilege to represent India and contribute to the country’s success,” Gambhir stated.

Gambhir highlighted the importance of fearless cricket and adaptability, emphasizing that the players adopted a high-risk, high-reward approach throughout the tournament. He also stressed the team's focus on creating an impact rather than chasing individual milestones.

Gambhir also praised the players' willingness to adapt to different roles and batting positions throughout the tournament. He highlighted the flexibility, starting with captain Hardik Pandya, who was willing to adjust his role to meet the team’s needs.

Gambhir also reserved special praise for India's pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, who played multiple roles with the ball throughout the tournament.

According to Gambhir, India’s success was built not just on results but on the fearless approach the players adopted during the tournament, the adaptability, and key performances.
