March 13, New Delhi – The Research & Development Establishment (Engineers), a Pune-based laboratory of India's defence research agency – DRDO, along with the Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT), has developed indigenous tactile sensor arrays for advanced robotic applications.

This technology paves the way for developing artificial skin for future robots. The sensors can handle delicate, lightweight, and heavy objects, and are capable of detecting slippage.

DIAT demonstrated the effectiveness of the sensor array before handing it over to R&DE(E).
