Imphal, April 5 Manipur Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh said on Sunday that the NDA government in Assam has made significant progress in infrastructure development and governance, and the state is poised to emerge as a robust and dynamic region.
Singh was speaking to reporters after addressing a rally in Assam's Cachar district in support of BJP candidate from Udharbond, Rajdeep Goala.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi is taking India forward, and Himanta Biswa Sarma has transformed Assam,” the CM said.
Later, in a post on Facebook, Singh said, "At a public meeting held at Rongpur today, hosted by BJP candidate from Udharbond constituency, Shri Rajdeep Goala, the overwhelming presence of supporters clearly reflected the strong confidence of the people in his leadership."
“Over the past decade, the NDA government in Assam has made significant progress in infrastructure development and governance. With sustained efforts towards progress and decisive actions, including addressing the issue of illegal migration, Assam stands poised to emerge as a robust and dynamic state, not only in the North East, but across the nation," he said.
Polling for the 126-member Assam assembly will be held on April 9, while the results will be declared on May 4.
"Let us come together to support this vision of growth and stability. Vote for BJP and be a part of Assam’s journey towards a brighter and more prosperous future," Singh added.
According to a release issued by the Office of the Advisor (Media) to the CM in the evening, Singh said Himanta Biswa Sarma has made Manipuri language an associate official language of Assam.
“People of Cachar always love Manipur. Even many Manipuri kings always came to Cachar to discuss the issues of Manipur because Manipuris in Cachar are a wealth of knowledge” he said.
Singh alleged that during the Congress rule, northeast states were “neglected” and it led to “disturbances”.
Recalling his old days in Assam, the CM said that he started the All Assam Taekwondo Association in 1982 and travelled to many areas of the state to teach Taekwondo martial art.
“I went to Nalbari, Dibrugarh and Cachar to teach Taekwondo. Whenever the word Assam came to me, it touched my heart,” he said.
Singh also campaigned at Laishram Khun in Jaribon for Milon Das, the BJP candidate from Hailakandi constituency, where he asserted that the BJP is the only party which says without the northeast, India cannot develop.
