New Delhi, April 2 Four people were injured, one of them critically, after a CNG cylinder exploded on a truck during a refill at a CNG pump on the Najafgarh-Mitraon Road in Dwarka on Thursday, police said.

According to police, information about the explosion was received from the Rao Tula Ram Memorial (RTRM) Hospital, where the injured are being treated.

A pump attendant was filling compressed natural gas (CNG) in the truck when one of its cylinders exploded, injuring four people present on the spot.

Three of the injured have been identified as Deepak (34), Vikas Kumar (26) and Neeraj (40), all pump attendants.

The condition of the fourth man, whose identity is yet to be ascertained, is stated to be critical, police said.

Forensic and Crime Branch teams have inspected the scene to ascertain the exact cause of the explosion.

Technical experts and representatives from the gas agency are also present at the site to assist in the investigation, police said.

"Preliminary investigation suggests that the explosion took place during routine refueling, though the exact reason is yet to be ascertained," a senior police officer said.

The authorities are examining whether there was any technical fault in the cylinder or a lapse in the safety protocols at the filling station.
