March 12, New Delhi – Lionel Messi was unable to achieve his 900th career goal as reigning Major League Soccer champions Inter Miami played to a 0-0 draw against Nashville in the CONCACAF Champions Cup.
The Argentine forward was closely marked throughout the first leg of the North American showdown in the round of 16.
Messi was denied a goal in the 57th minute by Nashville goalkeeper Brian Schwake, who saved a right-footed shot.
Messi had moved within one goal of the milestone after scoring his 899th goal last Saturday in a victory over DC United.
Inter Miami will host the second leg game next Thursday.
