Gangtok, April 5 Sikkim Governor Om Prakash Mathur interacted with Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel in Chungthang, Mangan district, on Sunday.
"I have come here not just as a governor, but as a friend, to understand your challenges and to boost your morale in recognition of your courage and commitment," he said.
Mathur praised the dedication, patience, and discipline of ITBP personnel stationed at the Kerang post at an altitude of 17,000 feet.
He said that the discipline and bravery of the ITBP personnel and the women's contingent are an inspiration for the entire nation, and that their role in securing border areas, especially North Sikkim, is invaluable.
He inquired about the diet, electricity, connectivity, and overall quality of life of the ITBP personnel, who expressed satisfaction with the facilities, saying that things have improved significantly over the past decade, particularly due to modern military equipment, better food, and digitization.
Mathur also met the personnel of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) along the route and appreciated their contribution under adverse weather and conditions.
