International Leaders Pledge Funding and Troops for Gaza Initiative

February 20, New Delhi – U.S. President Donald Trump convened members of his newly formed Board of Peace on Thursday, bringing together world leaders in Washington to advance his plan to stabilize Gaza.

Trump announced that the U.S. would contribute $10 billion to the initiative, describing the amount as "modest, compared to the cost of war." He said that other members of the Board of Peace had collectively pledged about $7 billion, and that several countries had agreed to send troops and police to support stabilization efforts. He also stated that contributing nations had raised $7 billion as an initial payment for reconstruction, although the plan faces major challenges, including the disarmament of Hamas.

At the meeting, speakers approved a 20-point plan and expressed support for its implementation. Indonesia pledged up to 8,000 troops for an international stabilization force, while Egypt endorsed Trump's framework and said it would continue training Palestinian police and assisting early recovery efforts. Qatar committed $1 billion to the mission, and the United Arab Emirates announced an additional $1.2 billion in aid.

India attended the inaugural Board of Peace meeting on Gaza as an observer nation, represented by Chargé d'affaires Namgya Khampa from the Indian Embassy in Washington, DC. India has not joined the Board of Peace, which was established by Donald Trump for the redevelopment of the Gaza Strip.
