The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) successfully brought back the subject on a Red Notice, Anil Kumar Reddy Yedulla, from the United Arab Emirates through INTERPOL channels today.
Anil Kumar Reddy is wanted by the Andhra Pradesh Police in multiple cases involving allegations of fraud, criminal breach of trust, and criminal intimidation. He arrived at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport from Dubai under the escort of Dubai Police and was handed over to the Andhra Pradesh Police team at the airport.
The CBI's International Police Cooperation Unit (IPCU), in coordination with the Ministry of Home Affairs and the INTERPOL National Central Bureau in Abu Dhabi, facilitated his return. A Red Notice against Yedulla was published on September 5, 2022, at the request of the Andhra Pradesh Police. He was subsequently arrested by UAE authorities, following which extradition proceedings were initiated.
The CBI, which serves as India's National Central Bureau for INTERPOL, said that more than 130 wanted criminals have been brought back to the country in recent years through coordination via INTERPOL channels. Red Notices are circulated globally to help law enforcement agencies trace and provisionally arrest wanted fugitives pending extradition.
