
Mumbai, March 21 A 31-year-old man died on Saturday after his motorcycle caught fire in Nanded city, Maharashtra, a police official said.
A forensic team, along with Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) personnel, visited the scene as part of the investigation, as the sound of firecrackers was also heard when the vehicle caught fire, he said.
The incident occurred at 9:30 am near Vajegaon Bandhara, near the Godavar river, approximately 600 kilometers from here, he added.
"The motorcycle caught fire, leaving Shyam Babanrao Ghadge, a resident of Parbhani, with severe burns. He died shortly after being taken to a nearby hospital. He was identified from a card recovered from the scene along with his mobile phone," the official said.
A team visited his residence in Parbhani to inform his family about the incident, the official added.
Neighbours have told police that Ghadge was mentally unwell and generally kept to himself, the official said.
