
Imphal, March 23 Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Monday emphasized the state government's commitment to a farmer-centric and self-reliant agricultural sector.
Speaking at the concluding ceremony of the 'Agrivision Agri-Youth Parliament 2026' at the Central Agricultural University, Singh said that the sector requires sustained attention and policy support.
"Attended the concluding ceremony of AGRIVISION Agri Youth Parliament 2026 at CAU, Imphal as the Chief Guest. Reaffirmed our commitment to a resilient, farmer-centric and self-reliant agriculture sector in line with PM Shri @narendramodi Ji's #AatmanirbharBharat," the CM said in a post on X.
Highlighting the importance of innovation and entrepreneurship, he said that such platforms provide an opportunity to harness the potential of young minds and connect them with real-world challenges.
The chief minister said that in consultation with the planning department, the government will explore ways to maximize benefits from agriculture for the youth, especially in the context of the state's startup ecosystem.
Singh also said that the participation of youths in agriculture reflects a positive shift and a growing interest in the sector.
He also released a policy document - 'Agricultural Extension Innovations for Achieving USD 1.3 Trillion North East India Economy @2047' - highlighting a future-ready roadmap for agricultural transformation in the region.
