Hyderabad, April 4 – Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will return to familiar surroundings as they take on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in the opening match of the double-header on Sunday at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.
The home team enters the contest with momentum on their side after registering their first victory of the season in a convincing manner. They defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 65 runs, becoming the first team this year to successfully defend a total. A strong batting performance saw them score 226, with impactful contributions from Heinrich Klaasen, Abhishek Sharma, and Travis Head.
Their bowlers then delivered a clinical performance to secure the win, dismissing KKR for 161 within 16 overs. Jaydev Unadkat led the attack with a three-wicket haul, while Eshan Malinga and Nitish Kumar Reddy provided crucial support with two wickets each.
Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will be eager to bounce back after a disappointing start to their campaign. Playing at home, they struggled for consistency against the Delhi Capitals (DC) and were bowled out for a modest 141. The target proved insufficient as Delhi comfortably chased it down, largely thanks to Sameer Rizvi's unbeaten 70, handing LSG a six-wicket defeat.
With Hyderabad riding high on confidence and Lucknow searching for an early turnaround, Sunday's clash promises an intriguing contest between two sides at different stages of their season.
