IPL Success Doesn't Guarantee India A Selection: Brar's Perspective

IPL Success Doesn't Guarantee India A Selection: Brar's Perspective.webp

New Delhi, March 30 Harpreet Brar, a left-arm spinner, feels disappointed about not being selected for the India A team, despite his consistent performance in the high-pressure IPL over the past five years.

The 30-year-old has been a valuable player for Punjab Kings since joining them in 2019. While he didn't get many opportunities in his first two seasons, he finally earned recognition in 2021 when he dismissed Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, and Ab de Villiers in a single game.

Kohli was his first IPL wicket, and he takes pride in sharing this achievement with his "family and friends."

Brar plays domestic cricket for Punjab, and he has faced his share of challenges there as well. After spending five years on the bench, he finally made his Ranji Trophy debut last season and made an immediate impact, taking 23 wickets in four games.

He has established himself in the T20 format, and he is determined to reach the highest level, even if it means making sacrifices.

A natural progression for him would be to first play for India A in the T20 format, where he has already proven himself.

Brar sometimes feels sad that other players who performed well in the IPL after him have been selected for India A, and his wait continues. However, he remains optimistic.

"I need to perform and be ready. Because, there is always a chance. So, I need to stay positive. Otherwise, when a person is alone, they often wonder, 'When will my name be called?'"

"Although I have been performing well in the IPL for the past five years, I feel sad when India A team is formed and my name is not there. The players who came to the IPL later have had their chance."

"However, I believe that my name will come someday," Brar told
