Iran Reports Significant Casualties Following U.S.-Israeli Strikes.webp

March 5, New Delhi: Iran said on Wednesday that over 1,000 people have been killed in the country since Saturday as a result of U.S.-Israeli strikes.

The death toll follows joint U.S.-Israeli attacks on Tehran and several other Iranian cities, which began Saturday morning and resulted in the deaths of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, his family members, top military commanders, and many civilians.

In the early hours of Wednesday, U.S. and Israeli forces struck a girls' school in Urmia, in Iran's West Azerbaijan province. An air strike also hit the Hezbollah stronghold of south Beirut early Thursday after Israel issued a warning to residents.

The office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel and the United States had made "historic gains" in their war against Iran. A spokesperson for Netanyahu said in a video message that the attack was necessary because Iran was using "new underground bunkers" to rebuild its nuclear bomb program.

Meanwhile, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said that damage was also visible at two buildings near the Isfahan nuclear site, but there has been no damage to facilities containing nuclear material, and there is no risk of radiological release.
