Islamabad, April 8 Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said on Wednesday that Pakistan is now being recognized as a "credible and trusted" mediator, both in the region and globally, hours after the US and Iran agreed on a conditional two-week ceasefire facilitated by Islamabad.
"This (ceasefire) is a success of our entire leadership. We are thankful to God for this," Asif said while speaking to the media in the context of the ceasefire arranged by Pakistan between Iran and the US.
Asif said that Pakistan has entered a new era after arranging peace between the US and Iran. "We will have stability and peace."
Pakistan is now being recognized as a "credible and trusted" mediator, both in the region and globally, Asif said.
"Arab states, our neighboring brother Iran have shown confidence in Pakistan, and the US is looking at us," he said, adding that Pakistan is at the "centre of attention."
Responding to a question on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's role in the entire episode of Pakistan making efforts to bring peace in West Asia, Asif said that the Indian leader has been "left with nothing."
On Wednesday, India welcomed the ceasefire but avoided mentioning Pakistan and its role in the process.
Asif said that Pakistan has come a long way since last year's conflict with India, and the entire world is looking towards Islamabad after the latest Iran-US ceasefire.
