The Islamic University of Science and Technology, Awantipora, has launched a week-long Advanced Entrepreneurship Skill Development Programme on innovative fruit preservation and value addition. Chief guest Dr. Rakesh Mehra urged young people to explore opportunities in the food processing sector, while Professor Parvez A. Mir emphasized the importance of vocational skills and entrepreneurship.

Srinagar, March 9: The Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development (CIED) at the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) inaugurated a week-long Advanced Entrepreneurship Skill Development Programme (AESDP) on "Innovative Approaches to Fruit Preservation and its Value Addition" in collaboration with the Department of Food Technology, IUST, on Monday.

Dr. Rakesh Mehra, Director of Innovation at Himgiri, New Delhi, attended the inaugural session as the chief guest and praised IUST's efforts in promoting innovation, skill development, and entrepreneurship among young people. He encouraged participants to explore opportunities in the food processing sector, noting India's growing potential as a global food producer.

In his address, Professor Parvez A. Mir, Director of CIED, emphasized the importance of vocational education in driving economic and social development.

The programme is coordinated by Dr. Basharat A. Dar, who highlighted government initiatives such as the YUVA Scheme and encouraged participants to pursue entrepreneurship in the agri-food sector. Experts from MSME Srinagar, IUST, and Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) are serving as resource persons.
