Jammu, February 25 – The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Jammu and Kashmir registered a case of disproportionate assets against Inspector Vijay Singh Choudhary, the brother of Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary, on Wednesday.

According to an ACB statement, "The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Jammu and Kashmir has registered a Disproportionate Assets (DA) case against Vijay Singh Choudhary, Inspector, Jammu and Kashmir Police, following a verification conducted based on specific information."

Based on specific information, the ACB conducted a verification into the allegations against Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Inspector, J&K Police, resident of Nonial, Nowshera District Rajouri, who is currently posted in Santokh Vihar, Kaluchack, Jammu, that he possessed huge disproportionate assets. The verification revealed that while posted in different locations, the suspect had amassed a huge amount of assets amounting to crores of rupees, which were highly disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Furthermore, it came to light that he had acquired more than 10 properties, including houses, shops, and plots of land, valued in crores, mostly in the names of family members, relatives, and others.

Based on the verification conducted, a prima facie case of criminal misconduct was found against Inspector Vijay Singh Choudhary, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and an investigation was initiated.

During the course of the investigation, search warrants were obtained from the court of the Anti-Corruption Special Judge in Jammu. Subsequently, ACB teams conducted searches at various locations, including his residential houses at Santokh Vihar, Kaluchak, Jammu, his residential house at Nonial, Nowshera, Rajouri, and his business premises, Stone Crusher and Tile Factory, located at Tutte di Khui, Bajalta, Jammu.

"Additionally, based on information revealed during the investigation, other locations in Jammu were also searched," the ACB statement said.

"During the searches, incriminating documents were recovered and seized in the case. Further investigation of the case is ongoing," the ACB statement concluded.
