J&K BJP Marks Foundation Day Near Separatist Stronghold.webp

Srinagar, April 6 The BJP's Jammu and Kashmir unit celebrated its 47th foundation day on Monday at the Rajouri Kadal area of Srinagar, which was once a stronghold of separatist politics in the Valley.

Numerous party workers participated in the celebrations, which included raising a flag and distributing sweets, near Mirwaiz Manzil in Rajouri Kadal, a locality in Srinagar's downtown area.

Mirwaiz Manzil is the office of the Awami Action Committee, led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, which was banned by the Centre last year.

Speaking to reporters, the BJP's Srinagar district president, Peerzada Amir, said the party wanted to celebrate the foundation day in Downtown, as it is a relatively isolated area within the city.

"There is no particular reason for holding the celebrations in Downtown. It is not a separate area; it is also a part of India. We have received good support from the people, as they now understand what is right and what is wrong. Today, the people accept that the BJP is right for them and that it has worked for them," Amir said.

He said that since the BJP took over the country, strikes and protests have become a thing of the past.

"Today, people have the freedom to move around and go anywhere. This is the biggest achievement," he said.

The BJP leader said that the celebrations were a message that the situation has improved and that there is no longer any fear.
