The Jammu district emerged as the overall winner in both the men's and women's categories at the 20th J&K Union Territory Fencing Championship, held at the M.A. Stadium.
The three-day championship, organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Fencing Association in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, saw the participation of over 400 fencers from 17 districts across the Union Territory.
Competitions were held across multiple age groups in Épée, Foil, and Sabre disciplines, showcasing emerging talent and competitive spirit among the participants. Jammu's consistent performance across all categories secured them the top honors in both sections.
The successful organization of the championship reflects the growing sports culture in Jammu and Kashmir, with increased participation and enthusiasm among young people. Officials highlighted that such events play a key role in promoting fencing and nurturing talent at the grassroots level across the Union Territory.
