J&K Government Establishes Committee for Gas Infrastructure.webp

The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has established a high-level committee at the Union Territory level to formulate the City Gas Distribution (CGD) Policy and accelerate the expansion of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) across the region.

According to an order issued by the General Administration Department, Civil Secretariat, the committee will be headed by the Chief Secretary of J&K. It includes the Administrative Secretaries of key departments such as Finance, Public Works (R&B), Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Housing & Urban Development, Industries & Commerce, Rural Development, and Labour & Employment. The Additional Secretary to the Government, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department, will serve as the Member Secretary.

The committee has been entrusted with crucial responsibilities, including finalizing the UT-level CGD Policy, monitoring the implementation of reforms and short-term measures, and ensuring effective coordination among departments. It will also facilitate expedited approvals, address bottlenecks, and review the progress of PNG penetration across Jammu and Kashmir.

This move is aimed at strengthening clean energy infrastructure, improving access to piped natural gas, and ensuring the efficient execution of gas distribution projects across the Union Territory.
