In Jammu and Kashmir, the Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (Migrants), Dr. Arvind Karwani, today chaired a meeting to review the ongoing development works in the Jammu migrant camps. An Akashvani Jammu correspondent reports that the Relief Commissioner also reviewed the needs and projects within the migrant camps, including migrant schools, dispensaries, and community halls, and assessed the budgetary provisions made by various government departments for the 2026-27 financial year. The progress of integrating migrant ration cards into the NFSA database, extending social sector schemes to eligible migrant beneficiaries, and the status of drinking water, electricity, and sanitation within the camps were also reviewed. A multi-purpose community hall, estimated to cost Rs 6.5 crore, is expected to be completed by the end of this month. Dr. Karwani also reviewed the outcomes of outreach camps recently conducted by the Relief Organization to identify potential beneficiaries of various social sector and self-employment schemes.
