J&K Releases Funds for MGNREGA Infrastructure and Staff.webp

In Jammu and Kashmir, the government has allocated a total of ₹ 195.96 crore under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) to support rural infrastructure development and meet staff honorarium obligations across the Union Territory. An Akashvani Jammu correspondent reports that out of the total allocation, ₹ 174 crore has been released under the material component of the scheme for settling liabilities arising from the execution of development works during the current and previous financial years. The funds will primarily be used for payments related to projects such as rural connectivity, infrastructure creation, and other asset-generating projects implemented at the grassroots level. The release is expected to provide relief to material suppliers and vendors who have been waiting for their claims to be settled. In addition, the government has released ₹ 21.96 crore towards honorarium for staff engaged under MGNREGA, covering the period from November 2025 to March 2026. The amount will be distributed among districts to compensate personnel involved in program implementation and administrative management. The timely release of these funds will ensure prompt payment to staff associated with the program and strengthen administrative efficiency at the grassroots level. The simultaneous release of funds under both the material component and staff honorarium will help accelerate ongoing works under MGNREGA and facilitate smoother implementation of the scheme.
