
Jammu & Kashmir has made a remarkable impression at the National-level India Skills Competition 2025–26, winning a Gold Medal along with an Excellence Medal, bringing pride to the Union Territory. Akashvani Jammu Correspondent reports that in a standout achievement, Diksha, a student of National Institute of Fashion Technology in Srinagar, won the Gold Medal in Fashion Technology, earning the prestigious opportunity to represent India at the upcoming World Skills Competition, which will be held in Shanghai, China. The Excellence Medal further highlights the competitive spirit, discipline, and dedication of participants from the region. Leena Pada, Mission Director of the Skill Development Mission, J&K, praised the achievement and dedicated this success to the officials who worked tirelessly to ensure the effective implementation of the program. She described it as a significant milestone for the Union Territory's evolving skill development ecosystem. A total of 57 candidates participated, and 27 medals were awarded, including 2 Gold Medals in Fashion Technology and Bricklaying, 3 Silver Medals in Electrical Installations, Fashion Technology, and Software Testing, 9 Bronze Medals, and 13 Excellence Medals. Out of the 63 skills, the UT participated in 28, reflecting both strong representation and competitive performance. This continued success is expected to inspire many more young aspirants to pursue excellence in vocational skills and represent J&K at national and international platforms.
