Jaipur, March 21 Gangaur processions were organized with royal grandeur across Rajasthan on Saturday, with major celebrations held in Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Udaipur, officials said.
In Jaipur, the procession began from the historic Tripolia Gate, where the idol of Gangaur Mata was ceremonially worshipped. The aarti was performed this year by the priest associated with the former royal family, adding to the traditional significance of the event.
The Pink City witnessed a large turnout of people, including domestic and international tourists, who gathered in huge numbers to witness the procession. Many foreign visitors, who were visiting Jaipur for the first time, expressed excitement at experiencing the vibrant cultural spectacle.
Folk artists from across the state participated in the celebrations, presenting traditional performances such as Kachhi Ghodi, Gair, Kalbelia, Chari, and Ghoomar dances, showcasing Rajasthan's rich cultural heritage.
In a visual highlight, flower petals were showered on the procession from a helicopter, drawing cheers from spectators. However, the police asked several social media influencers to move back while attempting to shoot videos during the procession to ensure smooth crowd management.
Officials said that the Gangaur procession has been integrated with digital platforms this year. Live streaming arrangements have been made for the Rajasthani diaspora through the Rajasthan Foundation, while the state tourism department also broadcast the event on its social media channels.
Tourism Department's Deputy Director Upendra Singh Shekhawat said, "Gangaur Mahotsav is not just a religious event but a medium to promote Rajasthan's folk traditions and culture."
He added that the festival symbolizes women's faith, marital bliss, and devotion to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, and continues to attract tourists from across the world, strengthening Jaipur's cultural identity.
