April 10, New Delhi: India's External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, is currently on a visit to Mauritius, where he will attend the 9th Indian Ocean Conference.
During his visit, Dr. Jaishankar met with Mauritian President Dharambeer Gokhool, conveying warm greetings from President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The meeting highlighted the close ties between India and Mauritius, reflecting the warmth of their friendship and a shared commitment to further strengthening the bilateral partnership.
Dr. Jaishankar also met with former Prime Minister and leader of the MSM Party, Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, appreciating his strong commitment to the India-Mauritius partnership.
On the sidelines of the event, Dr. Jaishankar held talks with Seychelles Foreign Minister Barry Faure, reaffirming India's commitment to supporting Seychelles in addressing current economic challenges and welcoming progress in implementing the Special Economic Package.
Earlier, Dr. Jaishankar also met his Japanese counterpart, Toshimitsu Motegi. The two leaders discussed developments in West Asia, including international shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, and Dr. Jaishankar appreciated condolences for Indian lives lost in the conflict.
External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar also held a bilateral meeting with Bhutan's Foreign Minister, D. N. Dhungyel. The discussions highlighted the enduring and time-tested partnership between India and Bhutan, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to strengthening cooperation across sectors.
Later, Dr. Jaishankar met Nepal's newly appointed Foreign Minister, Shishir Khanal, congratulating him on his appointment and discussing ways to realize the full potential of the India–Nepal partnership.
