Jal Shakti Engineer Arrested on Bribery Charges.webp

Srinagar, March 28 The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Jammu and Kashmir arrested an executive engineer from the Jal Shakti Department on Saturday for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 12,000.

Manzoor Ahmad Dar, an Executive Engineer of the Jal Shakti (PHE) – Mechanical Division, South Awantipora, was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe, an ACB spokesperson said.

Dar had demanded Rs 20,000 from the complainant for clearing his bills related to the Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) work. The complainant had already paid Rs 8,000, and the remaining Rs 12,000 was to be paid upon clearance of the bills.

Unwilling to pay any further bribe, the complainant approached the ACB, which subsequently laid a trap and apprehended the accused while accepting the remaining amount, the spokesperson said.
