Acting on the directions issued by Rakesh Minhas, the Jammu District Administration conducted a comprehensive inspection drive to regulate the functioning of spa and massage centers across the district. During the drive, several establishments found in serious violation of the prescribed guidelines were ordered to shut down immediately and served notices.
To enforce the order, the District Magistrate constituted dedicated inspection teams under the supervision of Additional Deputy Commissioners Ansuya Jamwal and Vidhu Shekhar. The teams inspected a number of spa and massage centers across the district, with one team led by ADC Vidhu Shekhar.
Officials said that six spa and salon establishments were closed during the drive after being found in violation of the directions issued by the administration. The inspection teams reported multiple irregularities, including the absence of mandatory undertakings, non-display of signboards and site plans, provision of cross-gender services and installation of door locks inside private cabins.
Other violations included failure of staff to produce identity cards, non-maintenance of client registers, unaccounted payment of employee salaries and malfunctioning CCTV cameras.
Notices have been issued to the defaulting establishments and further police and legal action will be taken against the owners, managers and employees under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The District Magistrate reiterated that the administration has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against the misuse of commercial establishments for unlawful or immoral activities. He added that inspection drives will continue on a periodic and surprise basis, warning all spa and massage centers in the district to strictly comply with the regulatory framework or face closure and prosecution.
