
Jammu, March 16 Two people were killed and around 29 others were injured after a passenger bus overturned after a collision with an SUV on the Jourian-Akhnoor road on the outskirts of Jammu city on Monday, officials said.
The accident occurred in the Kotgarhi area when the bus, on its way from the border area of Jourian to Akhnoor, and reportedly travelling at high speed, collided head-on with a Scorpio vehicle. The impact caused the bus to skid off the road and overturn, they said.
Two people died on the spot, while 29 others were injured, officials said.
Locals and police rushed to the scene and launched a rescue operation. Eleven injured people were taken to the Sub-District Hospital in Akhnoor, while 18 others were taken to the Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital in Jammu for treatment, they said.
GMC Principal Dr Ashutosh Gupta said that two people were brought dead. The injured admitted to the hospital are stable and do not appear to be in critical condition.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and further investigation is underway, officials said.
