A training program on the eradication of Lantana camara, titled "Harit Raksha 2026," was organized on March 11, 2026, by the Jammu Forest Division to enhance the capabilities of field staff in managing invasive species. The program was conducted under the supervision of Pradeepchandra Wahule, IFS, Conservator of Forests, East Circle, Jammu, and Anurag Arya, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer, along with other officials from the J&K Forest Department.

Speaking at the event, Wahule stated that Lantana camara, also known locally as Panchphuli, is an invasive weed that damages native vegetation, affects biodiversity, and increases the risk of forest fires.

During the program, the C.R. Babu Cut Rootstock Method for the scientific removal of Lantana was demonstrated, and field staff were trained in its proper management and follow-up maintenance.

The training program involved staff from the Jammu Territorial and Jammu Urban Forest Divisions, and similar programs will also be organized in the Samba, Udhampur, and Kathua forest divisions.
