Mumbai, March 12 Former Union Minister Sharad Pawar described the assassination attempt on former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah as "deeply concerning" on Thursday.
"The gun firing incident at a wedding ceremony attended by senior leaders Farooq Abdullah and Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary is deeply concerning. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident, which is a great relief," Pawar said in a post on X.
"However, such occurrences can pose a serious threat to public safety. It is reassuring to hear that all the dignitaries are safe. I wish them good health, a long life, and continued safety," Pawar said.
Abdullah, the 88-year-old veteran politician and President of the National Conference (NC), was targeted at close range on Wednesday night while leaving a marriage pavilion in the Greater Kailash area on the outskirts of Jammu.
