In Jammu and Kashmir, two terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces during Operation Trashi-1 in a remote area of the Kishtwar district today. The gunfight broke out this morning in the general area of Passerkut in the Chatroo belt after security forces received specific intelligence about the presence of two Pakistani terrorists affiliated with the banned outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM). Acting on this information, joint teams of security forces, including the Army, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), launched a search operation in the area. The terrorists, who were hiding inside a mud house at the foothills, opened fire on the approaching troops, triggering an intense exchange of gunfire.
In a social media post, the Army's White Knight Corps stated that, displaying tactical precision, seamless synergy, and resolute aggression, troops dominated the encounter site, where two terrorists were successfully neutralized. The Corps also said that several weapons, including two AK-47 rifles, were recovered from the site. They added that the search continues, emphasizing that those who seek to disrupt peace will find no sanctuary.
An AIR correspondent reports that the identities and group affiliations of the terrorists are being ascertained, and the area has been cordoned off. Further details are awaited. The Chatroo forest belt witnessed nearly half a dozen gunfights between terrorists and security forces last month, resulting in the killing of a soldier and a terrorist.
