Jammu & Kashmir Weather Update: Rainfall and Snowfall Advisory.webp

The Meteorological Department has predicted another period of heavy rainfall across Jammu and Kashmir, with intermittent light to moderate rain expected from this morning until Wednesday evening. An Akashvani Jammu correspondent reports that the weather department also predicted snowfall in the higher reaches during this period. According to the forecast, several areas in both the Jammu and Kashmir divisions may experience moderate to heavy rainfall, while higher altitude areas are likely to experience light to moderate snowfall. The MeT has also issued an advisory warning of the possibility of thunderstorms, hail, and strong winds with speeds reaching 40-50 Km per hour in several areas on April 7 and 8. It has also warned that intense, brief showers could trigger flash floods, landslides in vulnerable areas, and waterlogging in low-lying areas. The weather department stated that on April 9 and 10, there is a possibility of brief spells of light rain and snowfall in the higher reaches at scattered locations. From April 11 to April 16, the weather is expected to remain generally dry, although brief spells of rain at a few locations cannot be ruled out in the afternoon. Meanwhile, the minimum night temperatures across the Union Territory showed varied trends, with several parts of the Union Territory recording temperatures 1-3 degrees above normal, while many places experienced temperatures 0-3 degrees below normal.
