Jammu Railway Division Prepares for New Vande Bharat Route.webp

In Jammu and Kashmir, the Jammu Railway Division of Northern Railways is in the final stages of preparations to introduce the Vande Bharat Express between Jammu and Srinagar. Akashvani Jammu correspondent reports that amid growing speculation about the launch of the semi-high-speed train on this crucial route, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of Jammu Division, Uchit Singhal, stated that efforts are underway to commence the service before the upcoming holiday season. He described the proposed train service as highly significant for the region, noting the strong public interest and enthusiasm surrounding its launch. Singhal further informed that certain bridges had developed technical issues due to heavy rainfall last year; however, repair and strengthening work has since been completed, and train movement over these structures has resumed smoothly. He also pointed out that the Jammu-Srinagar stretch currently operates on a single-line track, requiring careful operational planning, which is actively being undertaken by the division. Meanwhile, the construction of the new terminal building and platform expansion at Jammu Railway Station, being developed at a cost of several hundred crores, is progressing rapidly. Railway authorities expect the new corridor and terminal project to be completed within this year.
