In light of the upcoming Navratri festival and the expected increase in pilgrims visiting the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine, the Jammu Division of the railway has implemented comprehensive security and passenger facilitation measures at key stations.
Special teams of Scouts and Guides have been deployed to manage the high volume of passengers at major stations like Jammu and Katra, ensuring smooth passenger movement and effective crowd control.
These trained volunteers will manage queues at platforms and entry/exit points, provide information about trains and platforms, and assist elderly passengers, women, and people with disabilities. They will also coordinate with the Railway Protection Force and the Government Railway Police in case of medical emergencies or overcrowding-related issues.
Officials stated that the teams will ensure that crowds do not gather at specific points, preventing congestion and facilitating uninterrupted passenger movement within the station premises.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal stated that the disciplined deployment of Scouts and Guides will play a crucial role in managing the increased passenger load and assisting devotees during the festive period.
The railway administration has appealed to passengers to cooperate with authorities, follow instructions, avoid carrying excessive luggage, and maintain patience to ensure a safe and comfortable journey during Navratri.
