The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs informed the Rajya Sabha that the Smart Cities Mission has led to significant improvements in urban infrastructure and civic amenities in Jammu.

Responding to a starred question raised by Member of Parliament Sat Sharma, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs, Tokhan Sahu, said that the Jammu Smart City has received the entire central financial assistance of ₹489 crore, which constitutes 100 percent of the total central share allocated for the city.

Of this amount, ₹455 crore has already been utilized, reflecting about 93 percent utilization of the funds released by the Government of India.

The Minister further informed that out of the 127 projects sanctioned under the Jammu Smart City Mission, 125 projects—approximately 98 percent—have already been completed, while the remaining two projects are currently under implementation.

He said that this progress reflects the effective execution of development initiatives aimed at modernizing the city's infrastructure and improving public services.

The Ministry also stated that after the formal closure of the mission on March 31, 2025, an advisory was issued to ensure the timely completion of the remaining projects and the submission of utilization certificates for the funds released by the Government of India by March 2026. Authorities were also directed to prepare operation and maintenance plans for assets created under the mission.

The government further outlined that Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) created under the mission will continue to address emerging urban challenges, while Integrated Command and Control Centres established under the initiative will function as city operating systems and analytical hubs to strengthen urban governance and service delivery.

Sat Sharma reaffirmed his commitment to raising the developmental aspirations of Jammu at the national level and ensuring that people benefit from the flagship programmes of the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
