Jammu-Srinagar Highway Partially Reopened Following Ramban Landslide.webp

Jammu, March 26 The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was reopened for traffic on Thursday after being blocked for several hours due to a massive landslide in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.

The highway was blocked at Karol, under the jurisdiction of the Chanderkote police station, after large rocks and boulders came crashing down onto the road, they said.

No untoward incidents occurred as police had stopped traffic just minutes before the landslide, preventing any casualties or damage to vehicles, according to officials.

The Police Control Room in Ramban stated that large boulders had fallen in both directions of the highway, completely halting traffic.

"One lane has been cleared and restored for traffic at Karol, Chanderkote," officials confirmed, adding that vehicles are being allowed to pass alternately from both sides under regulation.

Commuters have been advised to drive cautiously and strictly follow the instructions issued by the authorities.
