Shimla, April 8 A major accident was narrowly avoided in Himachal Pradesh's Chamba district on Wednesday when a portion of a road in a landslide-affected area collapsed as a state transport bus attempted to pass over it, causing the front tyre of the bus to fall off and hang precariously, triggering panic among passengers and locals.
According to officials, the incident occurred on the Kugti-Bharmour road when a Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus carrying around 20 passengers was en route to Bharmour.
A minor landslide had occurred along the route, and when the bus attempted to navigate the area, a section of the road collapsed under its weight. As a result, the front tyre of the bus fell off the edge, leaving the bus suspended.
The vehicle was later retrieved from the site with the help of a JCB, officials said.
