Karimnagar (Telangana), March 25 Senior Congress leader and former minister T Jeevan Reddy announced his resignation from the party on Wednesday.

During a meeting with his supporters at the district headquarters in Jagtial, Reddy announced his resignation, bringing an end to his long-standing association with the party.

Reddy resigned from both his membership in the AICC and the party's primary membership.

He addressed his resignation letter to AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge and also sent copies to the party's state leadership.

A senior leader from Jagtial district, Reddy had been associated with the Congress for nearly four decades.

Expressing dissatisfaction, Reddy stated, "Despite the Congress party forming the government in Telangana, I have not experienced any sense of fulfillment and have been facing mental distress for the past 20 months".

He further stated that lack of recognition within the party prompted his decision, adding that it was better to step aside than continue in an environment where his self-respect was compromised.

Party sources said that senior leaders made efforts to convince him to reconsider his decision, but he remained firm in his stand.
