
Ramgarh (Jharkhand), March 29 Asha Malviya, a national-level athlete, mountaineer, and solo cyclist undertaking a 7,800 km cycling expedition from west to east to promote women's empowerment, was felicitated in Ramgarh, Jharkhand, on Sunday.
She arrived here after successfully covering a distance of nearly 5,100 km across multiple states, a senior police officer said.
"We felt immense privilege to meet and welcome Asha Malviya, a renowned national-level athlete and mountaineer who reached Ramgarh after successfully covering 5,100 km on her bicycle across several states," said Superintendent of Police Ajay Kumar.
The SP said her expedition reflects courage, determination, and an unwavering spirit that will inspire many others.
She has achieved several milestones and has also planted the national flag on peaks such as B C Roy (20,500 ft) and Tenjing (18,500 ft).
The ongoing solo cycling expedition began on January 11 this year, on the eve of Indian Army Day, from Jaipur in Rajasthan.
Asha, hailing from a small village in Rajgarh district of Madhya Pradesh, will continue her expedition to reach Kibithoo in Arunachal Pradesh, an official said.
