Accompanied by his wife and MLA Kalpana Soren, Soren garlanded the statues of the two brothers, who led the Santhal rebellion against British rule in 1855.

"The brave martyrs, Sido-Kanhu, blew the historic bugle against injustice, exploitation, and oppression to protect water, forests, and land. This inspires all of us to walk on the path of struggle, courage, and self-respect," Soren told reporters.

He said that Jharkhand is a region of India where many brave and valiant sons were born.

"The Adivasis and Moolvasis of the state have been fighting for the protection of water, forests, and land, as well as for their rights and entitlements, since a time when the people of the country had not even dreamed of freedom," Soren said.

The CM said, "This auspicious day of the birth anniversary of the brave martyr Sido-Kanhu is indelibly recorded in the pages of India's history. On this day, all of us remember the struggle, indomitable courage, and ideals of the Sido-Kanhu."
