
Hazaribag (Jharkhand), April 5 Jharkhand Police have arrested five young men for killing a 21-year-old man during a Ram Navami procession in the Hazaribag district, a police officer said on Sunday.
The incident took place on March 29 in the Lohsinghna police station area, during a procession that started from Gadikhana to Jhanda Chowk.
"We have arrested five accused in the case. All of them were involved in the murder. They brutally attacked the victim with swords, knives, and sticks while the procession was in progress that night," Hazaribag Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Amit Anand said.
During interrogation, the accused told the police that the victim, identified as Abhishek Kumar from Bada Bazzar Gwaltoli, was killed after an altercation occurred with them over his sudden entry into the procession while they were performing with their weapons.
The police officer said that all the arrested accused are between 19 and 25 years old. The murder weapons were also seized from their possession. They were arrested on Saturday and taken into judicial custody.
