
Ranchi, March 11 The IMD forecast light to moderate rainfall in some parts of Jharkhand on Thursday, an official said.
The weather office said that light to moderate rain, accompanied by winds of 30-40 kmph and thunderstorms, is likely in the northeastern districts on Thursday.
The districts likely to be affected include Deoghar, Jamtara, Dumka, Godda, Sahebganj and Pakur, according to an IMD bulletin.
"There is no significant change expected in maximum temperatures over the next 24 hours; thereafter, it is likely to rise by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius over the next three days," it said.
Abhishek Anand, Deputy Director at the IMD Centre in Ranchi, said, "A trough runs from Bihar to Chhattisgarh across Jharkhand at 0.9 km above mean sea level, causing rainfall."
In the last 24 hours, the highest rainfall was recorded at 10.8 mm in Hendigir in Hazaribag district, he added.
Over the past 24 hours, Daltonganj in Palamu district recorded the highest temperature in the state at 34.4 degrees Celsius, the IMD said.
Chaibasa recorded 32.8 degrees Celsius, Jamshedpur 32 degrees Celsius, while the state capital Ranchi recorded 30.1 degrees Celsius, it added.
