Jharkhand HC Questions DGP on Police Assault Allegations.webp

Ranchi, April 7 The Jharkhand High Court on Tuesday criticized DGP Tadasha Mishra over the alleged assault on a relative of a petitioner, whose 18-year-old daughter has been missing from Bokaro since July 31, 2025.

A bench headed by Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad questioned Mishra on why no criminal action had been initiated against Bokaro SP Harvinder Singh in connection with the incident.

Rekha Devi, a resident of Bokaro, had filed a habeas corpus petition, alleging that her uncle-in-law was picked up by the police and subjected to third-degree treatment, sustaining serious injuries and currently undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Ranchi.

Mishra has been asked to appear before the bench again on April 9 with the report.

The petitioner's counsel also told the court that despite an FIR at the Pindrajoda police station, no concrete steps have been taken to locate the missing girl.
