Ranchi, April 2 The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that 14 districts of Jharkhand will experience thunderstorms, rain, and strong winds from April 4.

Hailstorms are also likely in some districts on April 4 and 5, the IMD said in a bulletin on Thursday.

"The northwest and central parts of Jharkhand are likely to experience spells of thunderstorm, lightning, hailstorm, and strong winds up to 50 kmph on April 4 and 5," it added.

The department issued an alert saying that the districts likely to be affected by the storm are Garhwa, Palamu, Chatra, Latehar, Lohardaga, Hazaribag, Koderma, Ramgarh, Ranchi, Khunti, Giridih, Dhanbad, Bokaro, and Gumla.

The weather department alerted that the strong winds could cause damage to standing crops.

However, the northeast and southeast parts of the state may experience hot and humid weather conditions from April 2 to April 4, the bulletin said.

The maximum temperature rose above 38 degrees Celsius in the state till 5.30 pm on Wednesday.

Chaibasa recorded the state's highest maximum temperature at 38.4 degrees Celsius, followed by Jamshedpur at 37.8 degrees Celsius.

Daltonganj recorded 36.8 degrees Celsius, while Ranchi registered 34.1 degrees Celsius, the bulletin said.
