Jharkhand Tragedy: Investigation Launched After Child Drownings.webp

Khunti (Jharkhand), April 3 Three children, including two brothers, are alleged to have drowned while taking a bath in a pond in Khunti district, Jharkhand, a senior police officer said on Friday.

The incident took place in Gafu Badka Toli village in the Torpa police station area on Thursday evening, he said.

"The deceased include a six-year-old boy and two brothers aged 8 and 10 years. The bodies have been sent to Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination," Torpa ASP Christopher Kerketta said.

He said the initial investigation suggests the children died due to drowning.

"However, the exact cause of death could only be determined after analysing the autopsy report," he added.

According to locals, the three children did not go home immediately after school and instead went to the pond to take a bath and drowned.

A case of unnatural death has been registered and an investigation has been launched, he added.
