Latehar, March 14 Two self-proclaimed commanders of the CPI (Maoist) have been arrested in the Latehar district of Jharkhand, police said on Saturday.

The arrests were made following a tip-off that a CPI (Maoist) 'zonal commander' was moving with his squad in the areas of Netarhat, Mahuadanr, Baresand, Garu, and Chhipadohar, Latehar SP Kumar Gaurav said.

"Based on the information, a police team was formed and a search operation was conducted within the limits of the Chhipadohar police station. During the operation, the two were arrested, while three others managed to escape," Gaurav told reporters here.

The two, who were jointly carrying a reward of Rs 12 lakh, were wanted in connection with several cases registered at police stations in districts and states, including Chhattisgarh, he added.
