
Chaibasa (Jharkhand), April 3 A woman was killed and six people sustained serious injuries in a clash between relatives of a tribal family over a piece of land in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand, a police officer said on Friday.
The victim, Sapani Kui (75), was working in her courtyard at Durdrita village in the Jagannathpur police station limits when she was attacked by some relatives with sticks and sharp weapons on Thursday afternoon.
She was taken to a nearby hospital, but was declared dead on arrival by doctors.
Confirming the incident, Jagannathpur OC Tinku Kumar Das said that an elderly woman was killed, and about half a dozen others, including women from both sides, were seriously injured.
A case under relevant sections of the BNS was registered based on the statement of the victim's family members, police said, adding that the rival group is also likely to file a counter case.
According to police, the feud over a piece of land within the family had been prevailing for the last three months.
