
President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Jharkhand today for a day-long visit. Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar and Chief Minister Hemant Soren welcomed her at Birsa Munda Airport in Ranchi, after which she departed for Jamshedpur by an MI-17 helicopter. In Jamshedpur, she laid the foundation stone and performed the "Bhoomi Pujan" (groundbreaking ceremony) for the Shri Jagannath Temple at Kadma.
Later, the President will interact with students at the Manipal Tata Medical College. The Governor and Chief Minister were also present at the ceremony. Devotees have expressed enthusiasm about the plan to develop the proposed temple on Marine Drive as a replica of the Jagannath Temple in Puri. Elaborate security arrangements have been put in place in anticipation of the President's visit.
