Two suspected Jihadi operatives have been arrested by the STF; NIA initiates interrogation.

In Assam, the Special Task Force (STF) has arrested two suspected Jihadi operatives from the Barpeta and Bajali districts. The accused have been identified as Sahidul Islam and Jahinur Islam.

According to STF officials, the two were allegedly working for extremist organizations including Ansarullah Bangla Team and Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh, and were reportedly in frequent contact with radical elements in Bangladesh and Pakistan.

The arrests were made in connection with a case registered by the STF in 2024. Earlier, 16 suspected Jihadi operatives had been arrested across the country in the same case.

Meanwhile, a five-member team from the National Investigation Agency has arrived at the STF office in Guwahati to interrogate the two suspects regarding their alleged involvement in anti-national activities.

The Assam Police's STF has been actively conducting counter-terrorism operations to dismantle extremist modules affiliated with international terrorist organizations. The STF has also initiated "Operation Praghat" to neutralize Jihadi threats in the state.
